My Jazz Album

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Behind the Music.

Welcome to my debut jazz album! It’s been quite the ride, spanning 25 years, and filled with a lot of passion and hard work. With 17 tracks, each one tells its own little story. Many of these pieces were originally created for TV shows and documentaries, so they’re often short and sweet, usually under 2 minutes. But I’ve also included a few brand-new tracks made just for this album.

The album features me on the piano, with the incredible Jim Langley on drums and Kenny Davis (Not the famous Kenny)  on bass. I also took on the saxophone, violin, and the occasional snare drum, using my old Yamaha DX-7. For some of the older tracks, we had the help of talented studio musicians and our fantastic sound recordist, Tony Adams.  I recorded one of these tracks in my house in Serbia, with my dog Buddy acting as a helpful metronome by wagging his tail.

Recording these songs was a bit of a challenge, especially with some pretty questionable microphones. But each track carries the love and effort I put into it. We usually started with a piano track—I’m not a trained pianist, just play by ear like my Dad did. None of these songs were formally written; they grew from the initial piano recordings, and we built them up with drums, bass, guitar, and other instruments.

I stumbled upon these songs on a hard drive about two years ago and decided to put them out there through DistroKid, just to see how it goes. It’s a bucket list moment for me, and I really hope you enjoy what you hear. I also want to give a huge thanks to my doctors at UW Madison, Scott Ferguson and Ticiana Leal, for saving my life in 2019. Without them, this album wouldn’t have been possible.

So, dive in and enjoy the journey through these tunes.  More to come in the future.

Thanks for listening!
