“Ivy League” refers to a group of eight prestigious universities in the northeastern United States known for their academic excellence and selective admissions processes. These universities include Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, and Yale. Admission to these institutions is highly competitive, and they are renowned for their rigorous academic programs, esteemed faculty, and strong alumni networks.

The term “Sophomore” comes from Greek roots meaning “wise fool.” It refers to students in their second year of study, suggesting they have gained some wisdom but may still exhibit some folly or immaturity.

The tradition of Prom King and Queen originated in the United States as part of high school proms. While its exact origins are unclear, it likely evolved from the broader tradition of crowning royalty at formal events. Prom, a formal dance near the end of the academic year, includes the crowning of a king and queen, typically elected by their peers. This tradition adds excitement and tradition to the event, celebrating students and adding a touch of glamour to the evening.

A Frat House, short for fraternity house, is a residence owned or leased by a fraternity, a social organization for male college students. It serves as a communal living space for fraternity members, offering accommodation, meeting areas, and spaces for social events. Frat houses are known for fostering brotherhood among members and hosting social activities, playing a central role in college campus social life.

Americans call small, soft, leavened bread “Biscuits,” likely influenced by British culinary traditions. In the U.S., biscuits are a staple of Southern cuisine and are enjoyed across the country, often served with breakfast or savory dishes like fried chicken and gravy. They are known for their soft, flaky texture and are made with flour, fat, leavening agents, and liquid. Try them. They are delicious.

American Breakfast Gravy is a savory sauce commonly served with breakfast, particularly biscuits. It’s made from fat, flour, milk, salt, and pepper, cooked together to form a creamy sauce. This gravy is often served over biscuits, creating the classic dish known as “biscuits and gravy,” but it can also accompany other breakfast foods like eggs or hash browns. Try it is delicious.

Meatloaf is a classic American dish made from ground beef mixed with ingredients like eggs, breadcrumbs, onions, and seasonings. Shaped into a loaf and baked, it’s like a savory, rectangular meatball, often served with tomato-based sauce or gravy. It’s a comforting and versatile meal, commonly enjoyed with sides like mashed potatoes or vegetables.  Try it is delicious.
